Open House: October 17, 2015

SDAF Barrio Logan Open House

The Bakery will be participating in the Open House San Diego event Saturday, October 17, 2015 – an architecture and urban design event hosted by the San Diego Architectural Foundation in collaboration with the Downtown San Diego Partnership.

Our studio doors will be open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm to show our shared studio space in Barrio Logan, which houses the following:

Join us for some refreshments, and check out the forty locations that will be open throughout downtown San Diego and Barrio Logan, including our neighbors at Bread & Salt, La Bodega Gallery, La Esquina, MW Steele Group, and Woodbury University.

Holiday Toy Drive 2014

the bakery toy drive IRC San Diego

Help us send toys to San Diego families who need them this year!

The Bakery will be collecting NEW, UNWRAPPED TOYS for children of the families supported by the International Rescue Committee in San Diego. The IRC is a great organization and do so much, both for our local community and abroad (Read more about them here). We’ll be waiting for you to drop by and say hello, gift in hand!

mi-workshop will be showcasing hand-crafted furniture pieces and items for the home at the Handmade Holiday market at the San Diego Public Library this month. Check out the beautiful new library and enjoy handmade gifts by 30+ local artists and designers, live music and entertainment, and free crafts for kids.

A big thank you to everyone who came out and supported The Bakery Flea at Gym Standard!  With everyone’s contributions to the selection of vintage items and design goods on sale, we were able to make a sizable donation to the IRC Philippines disaster relief.

Vivian Beer at The Bakery

The Bakery Design Collective welcomes new work from Vivian Beer.

Vivian Beer: designed in SoCal will be open by appointment January 16th-26th (contact Vivian Beer (845) 239-2729) with two events open to the public, a reception January 19th from 4-7 and a lecture on January 26th 4:30-5:30 in collaboration with the Furniture Society fundraiser.

The lecture is free and open to the public. 20% of any sales from the show on the 26th will be donated to the Furniture Society fundraiser.

Call for Submissions: MATTER at The Bakery

MATTER is an exhibition taking place this fall at The Bakery (San Diego, CA), which explores the physical experiments and processes that link creative disciplines from art to architecture and design. The objects exhibited will serve as glimpses into the methodologies of the process driven investigations of a diverse group of creatives. Physical models in a variety of media will be presented in this group exhibition opening September 1, 2011, during the Art San Diego Contemporary Art Fair in downtown San Diego.

The submission deadline is July 29, 2011. International submissions are encouraged! For details, check out the attached call.

April 16: Planting at The Farm Proper

‘Tis spring, and we are hosting a little reunion down at The Farm Proper on Saturday, April 16th (4-6 pm).

We’ll have some soil amendments from Jaime, the nutrient enrichment guru from Indoor Garden Depot, and some seedlings from Suzie’s Farm ready for the planting. The BBQ will also be going, so bring some drinks and something to throw on it if you like.
